A major new attraction opened last week just two km south of Squamish between Shannon falls and the Stawamus Chief. The gondola’s summit is 885 metres (200 metres higher than the crest of the Stawamus Chief). The energetic can also climb a 3 to 4 hour trail from the base of the gondola to the top and then take the gondola down for $10. Once at the top there is a lodge that includes a restaurant and gift shop, along with a large 6,000 square-foot-deck affording spectacular views and access to approximately 30 km of trails.
When you arrive at the top, you can try out the new Sky Pilot Northwest Pale Ale, brewed just down the road at the world famous Howe Sound Brewing Company. The gondola costs $34.95 for adults, $22.95 for ages 13 to 18, $13.95 for 7-12 and children under 6 ride free. There is also a family rate of $89.95; a summer 6-month pass for adults is $99.
