2015 July Brighton

GSB_England_DSCF3333_150727_BrightonTook the train from Shoreham-by-Sea to Brighton for a day trip. Although Brighton is perhaps best known as a beach resort, the city has grown significantly and now has a lot to offer including excellent restaurants, shopping, conference facilities etc. A famous landmark that I remember as a kid, the West Pier, burned down in the early 2000’s and is in the process of being replaced with a 600m tower with an observation deck (erected by the same company that built the London Eye). The old “Palace Pier” ¬†with an amusement park on it is still standing. The “Lanes” area of Brighton is a warren of narrow, mainly pedestrian streets full of all sorts of quirky shops and is a great place to explore. ¬†A few shots of the day can be seen here.
