2016 February Squamish – Spring Flowers

GSB_Canada-5503-20160228_SquamishA very wet and dreary day in Squamish provided an opportunity to pull out the macro lens and try a few shots of emerging spring flowers – couple of lessons learned; 1) a flash helps, 2) use a tripod (I didn’t), 3) selecting a plane of focus is critical, 4) playing with aperture and the depth of field makes a huge difference at this scale (essentially 1:1). Macro photography is a lot of fun and it seems as if there is always something worthwhile/interesting to take a shot of within 100 m, but like anything it takes practise before consistent results can be achieved. A few shots can be seen here.
