On Sunday, I went to the large rockfall along the “Apron” of the Stawamus Chief to watch some bouldering. The Chief is a massive granite monolith that rises some 700 metres above Squamish and Howe Sound and has hundreds of climbing routes and bouldering challenges for every level of climber. Although the parking and camping spots were full, the large number of climbing options meant that there was plenty of “space” for all the climbers. An excellent source of information about climbing in Squamish is Squamishclimbing.com. A few shots of the morning can be seen here or by clicking the photo to the left.
