2017 January – The Milk Run

One of my favourite “commutes” is the ferry ride from Long Harbour (Saltspring Island) to Tsawwassen (the mainland) via Pender, Mayne and Galiano Islands. We’ve been doing it for over 25 years, usually catching the first ferry out of Long Harbour 6:20 am when it still dark in the winter, arriving in Vancouver about 3 hours later. The old Queen of Nanaimo, build in the 1960’s is a lovely, “friendly” old boat that will soon be replaced with one of the new class of LNG boats (last photo in the associated photo gallery is one of these ferries that just arrived in BC a few weeks ago and will be used on the Powell River – Comox run) – I’ll miss the old Queen but have many good memories accumulated over many years – we are fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world.  A few photos of “the Milk Run” can be seen by clicking this link or the embedded photo.
