2017 May – Late Spring in Squamish

Spring got off to a slow start in much of Canada, and certainly on the west coast. Most farmers claim to be 3 or 4 weeks behind with planting, and gardeners are saying the same ….ANYWAY, things do seem to be improving slowly and this weekend definitely had the feel of better things to come. Lots of bird activity down at the Squamish estuary (and some bear scat), the snow is largely gone from the Chief (we had our first ride up the gondola this weekend) and trees and other vegetation is “leafing out” in the Garibaldi Highlands, snow is off most of the main bike trails and the mountain bike community are out in force – gotta love SPRING.
