The Squamish Nation (Skwxwú7mesh stelmexw) held a community event at the beautiful Stawamus waterfront in the shadow of the Chief on June 20th. A highlight was the 10th annual Aboriginal Day Canoe Race. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the a unique aspect of the Coast Salish Nation, namely their amazing sea-faring history, and build an appreciation of its deep culture and rich history. Some photos of the event can be seen here. I also included a few shots of log sorting activities in the Mamquam Blind Channel that were going on at the same time.
