One of the highlights of the summer for the Sea-to-Sky corridor is the annual “Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival“. This year the 57th edition of this event will be held July 31st through August 4th and will form part of the community’s 100 birthday celebrations. Detailed information about events, scheduling etc. can be found at the Squamish Days website. The highlight (for me) are the loggers sports competitions that require amazing strength, skill and stamina and also provide an educational link to a way of life that helped shape much of BC. Competitors come from all over the world, and some of the finest are “home grown”. In addition there are numerous family events including music and art shows, children’s activities, a parade, bed races, and a 10K run – something for everyone. A few shots from last years festivities can be see here.
