2015 July Brighton

GSB_England_DSCF3333_150727_BrightonTook the train from Shoreham-by-Sea to Brighton for a day trip. Although Brighton is perhaps best known as a beach resort, the city has grown significantly and now has a lot to offer including excellent restaurants, shopping, conference facilities etc. A famous landmark that I remember as a kid, the West Pier, burned down in the early 2000’s and is in the process of being replaced with a 600m tower with an observation deck (erected by the same company that built the London Eye). The old “Palace Pier”  with an amusement park on it is still standing. The “Lanes” area of Brighton is a warren of narrow, mainly pedestrian streets full of all sorts of quirky shops and is a great place to explore.  A few shots of the day can be seen here.
