After being away for about a month, it is nice to be home. August is one of the best months to be in the Sea-to-Sky corridor with numerous cultural and sporting events happening from Horseshoe Bay to Pemberton. Last week Squamish had over 100,000 visitors for the Squamish Valley Music Festival and Whistler has been packed for the last 10 days for Crankworxs (Canada Cup X-country final is August 14th). JABR (Just another Bike Race) the final race in the Test of Metal series will be held August 15th. In addition to all the planned events, if you just want to get out and enjoy some spectacular scenery there are endless options. This week I went up the Sea-to-Sky Gondola to enjoy a pint of Howe Sound Brew Pub beer while watching the sun go down over Howe Sound and took in some of the Kite Boarding action at the Spit. Every year, volunteers and the Squamish Windsports Association makes incremental improvements to the Spit as the sport (and location) continues to grow in popularity. A few shots taken around Squamish over the last couple of days can be seen here (or by clicking on the inserted photo).
