Temperatures were comfortable at the Canada Cup X-Country Finals held at the Spruce Grove Park in Whistler, although the track was dry and slick. Details about the race and other Crankworx events can be seen at www.crankworx.com. I’ve also attached race results here : Canada Cup XC Elite Expert Results. As always, it was great to see a strong showing by local riders and in particular I’d like to give a shout-out to Mike Charuk, the Cross Country Provincial Coach for Cycling BC. Mike and other coaches like him continue to make a really positive influence with our youth, and whether they go on to become professional athletes or not, the life lessons learned through participation in organized sport (focus, discipline, hard work, sportsmanship etc.) are all valuable and will benefit them in any chosen profession. The other thing that impresses me at these sorts of events is the great work done by volunteers, and of course the support provided by parents/family. We’re really fortunate in BC to have such great infrastructure to support a world class series of races in our backyard. A few shots of the race can be seen here or by clicking on the inserted photo above.
