Took the dog for a walk on a trail behind our house along the Mashiter Trail with my 105mm macro lens – this is a lovely “true” macro lens that is also a great for portraits. A challenge I often bump into when using a macro lens is the shallow depth of field, especially when dealing with small subjects. It’s really important to find a “plane” that keeps important picture elements in focus – a few shots taken on my walk can be seen here. Next time I will try an off-camera flash to further isolate the background.
