The last day in April was a beautiful west-coast day with high temperates in the low 20’s and a cool breeze. This years edition of the Sunshine Coaster cross-country mountain bike race was setup on a new course just west of Sechelt. The organizers did a great job laying out a beautiful and varied course. The race offered two options, the longer course was approximately 43kms consisting of some logging roads, some double tracks and lots of single track. The shorter option was approximately 25kms of varied terrain and trails. Race conditions were near perfect and there was a strong turnout – this is a lovely part of the world to cycle in and riders from the lower mainland that haven’t checked it out should definitely make the effort. I took a bunch of photos of participants (Click on this link or the photo to the left) – please share them and feel free to download any images you want (or let me know if you want a higher res version). After the race we stopped at the Persephone brewing company, a new (to me) microbrewery just a few minutes from the Langdale ferry terminal – for a relatively new and small brewery they have an amazing selection of beers and a great laid-back, sunshine coast vibe.
