Although outdoor pond hockey is as Canadian as maple syrup and “eh”, it doesn’t happen all that often on the mild west coast. This year, due to a long cold snap where temperatures were generally below zero for several weeks, a number of lakes in the vicinity of Squamish froze hard enough to allow for skating. On Saturday we took Wally for a walk around Alice Lake provincial park, and it was fun to watch the excitement of kids, families and friends taking advantage of the icy conditions. A number of small rinks had been cleared on Stump Lake on which pick-up hockey games were being played and a few shots can be seen by clicking this link or the embedded photo.
