Memories of HCM and Laos

Earlier this week, an ex-employee of Hatfield Consultants Mekong (HCM), Mouksy Vongsouvath (Mouk), passed away unexpectedly. Mouk filled a number of vital administrative roles in our small Vientiane office and I was deeply saddened at the news of her passing. Although quiet, Mouk was always cheerful and willing to help out in any capacity – she will be sorely missed and my thoughts and condolences go out to her family. Mouk’s passing prompted me to browse through some of my photos from Laos, dating back to the late 80’s – most were taken once we established HCM and provide a partial record of some of the amazing work that was undertaken by the talented, eclectic, and hardworking crew at HCM, HCP and PTHI. Laos is a beautiful country and I feel lucky to have spent time there, and proud of the modest impacts HCM had with respect to advancing improved environmental management in the country. A few of the photos from my archive can be seen by clicking this link or the embedded photo of Mouksy.
